Forestry

Grays Harbor Conservation District offers forestry assistance to help private landowners care for their forested property. Whether you own a few acres or a larger working forest, our forestry program can support you in managing your land sustainably and meeting your goals.

Our Forestry Services

Forest Management Planning

We work with landowners to create customized Forest Management Plans that support healthy, resilient forests. These plans consider wildfire risk, forest health, habitat, and landowner objectives. A professionally developed plan can also help landowners access state or federal cost-share funding and take meaningful steps toward long-term forest stewardship.

Forest Stewardship Program

As part of Washington State’s Forest Stewardship Program, we connect landowners with technical guidance, educational resources, and workshops to build long-term forest resilience. We also collaborate with state and federal agencies to ensure landowners receive well-rounded support tailored to their land and goals.

Wildfire Risk Reduction

We help landowners assess wildfire risk and identify practical steps to reduce hazards through defensible space, vegetation management, and thinning. Some areas may be eligible for cost-share programs to help implement these recommendations.

Site Visits and Technical Assistance

Our staff can visit your property to provide guidance on forest health, invasive species, erosion concerns, replanting, and more. We support both conservation-focused and working landowners with science-based recommendations.
