This VSP cost share project was located on a dairy farm which intersects with four critical areas: Wetlands, Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas, Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas, and Frequently Flooded Areas. A VSP site visit involving GHCD staff was conducted with the landowner about his proposed planting project. The planting was intended to help mitigate erosion along the Chehalis River. Planting trees enhances the critical areas by providing habitat for wildlife and reintroducing wetland vegetation along the river. This planting also enhances agricultural viability by mitigating erosion into the landowner’s hay field which borders the river.
The landowner planted the trees in March 2020.
