CREP Project

This CREP project implemented a buffer that will help recycle runoff and trap soil particles before they can enter open water, provide upland wildlife habitat in the form of food and cover, provide aquatic habitat values such as shade that helps stabilize water temperature and access to terrestrial foods. Through root systems and energy absorbing top structure, vegetation provides protection from both stream bank and stream side erosion. Trees provide the opportunity to introduce large woody material to the stream, thus helping to shape the stream character such as how fast the water flows, where gravel bars form, where and what size the stream bed rock deposits.

This project was completed in May 2018.
